German tourists boost optimism for Paphos tourist season

German tourists boost optimism for Paphos tourist season

A very significant factor that instils greater optimism in Paphos for this year’s tourist season is the notable increase in traffic anticipated from Germany to the province this summer.

Data up to the end of March from German travel agencies indicate that the estimates and data analysed for Paphos during the recent ITB Berlin International Tourism Exhibition are now fully confirmed.

The tourist flow from the large German market to Paphos for the remainder of 2024 will see an unprecedented surge, largely offsetting the ongoing losses from Russia and Israel due to war.

Based on the latest bookings and expressions of interest from tour operators in the country, as well as individually from airlines, Germany will play a much larger role in tourist traffic to Paphos this coming summer compared to the previous decade at least, reinforcing the province’s strong position on the tourist map.

Tourism stakeholders in the province additionally estimate that there is ample room for improvement in air connectivity to Paphos and the number of visitor arrivals, as well as a need for further promotion of our country in this market.

In this context, Germany is treated as a high-priority market for Paphos, which can significantly contribute to extending the tourist season and attracting visitors year-round.

This policy was communicated to German travel organisers at the ITB Berlin tourism exhibition, attended by representatives of ETAP and PASYXE Paphos.

This observation, combined with the ongoing, according to all indications, very high visitation from Britain this year, is causing euphoria in touristy Paphos for a 2024 that is set to be a record-breaking year in visitor arrivals.
